California Water Commission to Consider Revised Regulations on Eligibility of Water Storage Projects for Proposition 1 Funding

On November 22, 2016 the California Water Commission (CWC) released newly revised draft regulations designed to implement the Water Storage Investment Program (WSIP). Once adopted, these regulations would govern eligibility for $2.7 billion in Proposition 1 funding allocated for water storage projects. The revisions respond to comments submitted on a prior draft of the regulations circulated in September 2016. The final regulations were approved on December 14, 2016.

The final regulations were adopted by the CWC on December 14, 2016, and have been submitted to the Office of Administrative Law for approval. The CWC intends to host application workshops, and provide additional guidance regarding funding applications, in early 2017. The application period is expected to open in February 2017, with funds will be awarded between March 2017 and January 2022. Additional details, including the final approved regulations, may be found at: https://cwc.ca.gov/Pages/QuantificationRulemaking.aspx
